Setting new ITA Certified standards of quality and best practice for International Doping Control Officers.
About
The ITA IDCO Training Program aims to offer athletes of the world the guarantee that wherever they are tested and whatever sport they compete in, the doping controls they are subject to are conducted safely, respectfully and with trained professionals in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and international best practice.
Advanced and trusted qualification
The IDCO Training Program will enable existing trained DCOs currently working at local or national level to attain an advanced, international ITA Certification to promote quality testing around the world.
ITA Certified IDCOs will be trusted experts in the professional, operational and World Anti-Doping Code compliance aspects required to deliver out-of-competition and in-competition testing programs at international sporting events such as international championships, Olympic Games, and other major events.
Developed and presented by experts
The ITA IDCO Training Program has been developed by a team of international experts in the area of sample collection and doping control officer training.
The program builds on these fundamental training programs by developing skills to enable IDCOs to work with international athletes at major events.
Ongoing professional development
A framework of continued professional development aimed at demonstrating ongoing competency and current knowledge ensures that all ITA Certified IDCOs continue to be up to date with current international standards and practices. Every two years, IDCOs will be required to renew their certification by submitting evidence of ongoing professional development and current experience. The ITA will support the IDCOs to do this.
ITA certified & secure
The ITA Certification is awarded to the IDCO on successful completion of the course and online examination. A unique and secure identity card will be issued to the ITA Certified IDCO to be used during testing missions conducted on behalf of the ITA, giving international athletes reassurance that the IDCO collecting their sample has undergone trusted professional training.
